Dr. Andrea Kuehn

Dr. Andrea Kuehn has been caring for the pets and families of River Forest Animal Hospital since 2016 and loves building lasting relationships with both her patients and their people. Originally from Oklahoma, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Oklahoma before receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University in 2014. She moved to the Chicago area shortly thereafter and quickly found her professional home at River Forest Animal Hospital.

Dr. Kuehn is passionate about helping pets enjoy the best possible quality of life throughout every stage of life. Her professional interests include senior pet care, especially the management of osteoarthritis and cognitive dysfunction, as well as feline medicine. She has completed additional training in endoscopy and dentistry and also enjoys soft tissue surgery. She is USDA-accredited to provide international health certificates for pets traveling abroad and is an active member of both the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).

What Dr. Kuehn enjoys most about veterinary medicine is getting to know each pet's unique personality and developing meaningful relationships with the families who love them. She believes that understanding the special bond between pets and their owners is an important part of providing exceptional care.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Kuehn stays busy with her husband and two elementary school-aged children. Their home is filled with animals, including two dogs, Maui and Moana, and a cat named Wally. Maui holds a special place in her heart, as he was born right here at River Forest Animal Hospital. When she's not at work, Dr. Kuehn enjoys reading, playing guitar, attending concerts and musicals, and traveling. An avid bird watcher and wildlife enthusiast, she dreams of one day visiting the Galápagos Islands and going on an African safari.

Dr. Kuehn feels privileged to care for the pets of the River Forest community and looks forward to partnering with families to help their beloved companions live long, happy, and healthy lives.
